Well, I stopped at a church - sponsored yard sale today on the main street in Greenbrier, AR. I noticed a Confederate Battle flag proudly displayed. So, I went up to the guy handling the money. I asked if the event was church sponsored. He said that it was. I asked if they had any Nazi flags? He looked mildly surprised. He said that he hadn't seen any. So, I said, "I'm surprised, seeing as you have another RACIST flag flying". He looked angry, and he replied, "Ma'am, that flag represents my HERITAGE !" I contradicted him, "No, that flag represents slavery!" And I continued, " The war has been over for 160 years, and your side LOST!". He angrily snarled, "The war wasn't OVER slavery, it was over STATES RIGHTS! " I said, "Hey, whatever you have to tell yourself, it was still over slavery".
He ordered me to leave, and I left!
There were a dozen or so workers nearby with tables of items for sale. They all seemed to go along with the "Patriot". Apparently, no one else had complained about it. But, seriously, if a person of color walked into a church service here, or tried to join, what sort of welcome would they receive? Is this a religious organization, or a POLITICAL one? Who would care to wager that they are bashing the Presidency from the pulpit? If they are a political organization, should they enjoy non-profit status?
